Devotion: All Saints' Day - 11-01-2026

“Blessed Are the Saints of God”

Scripture Reading: Revelation 7:2–17

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

What does it mean to be a saint? When we hear the word saint, we may think of someone who lived an exceptionally good life, someone whose faith was unusually strong, or someone whose service to others deserves special recognition. We may think of the faithful Christians who have influenced our lives, taught us God's Word, encouraged us in difficult times, and demonstrated what it means to follow Jesus. On All Saints’ Day, we remember those who have gone before us in the faith, and we give thanks to God for the ways He worked through their lives. Yet this day is about much more than remembering people from the past. It is about God's grace in the present and His promises for the future. It reminds us that the saints of God are not people who have saved themselves through their own goodness. They are people whom God has redeemed through Jesus Christ, called His children, and promised to bring into His everlasting kingdom.

So, what does All Saints’ Day mean for us? It calls us to remember with gratitude, to live with faithfulness, and to look forward with hope. We remember those who have gone before us, giving thanks for the ways God used them in our lives and the lives of others. We learn from their witness, but we place our confidence in the Savior they trusted. We live today as God's children, seeking to show mercy, pursue peace, proclaim the Gospel, and encourage one another in faith. And we look toward the future with confidence, knowing that the Lamb who redeemed us will also shepherd us into eternal life.

Prayer: Almighty and merciful God, we thank You for all Your faithful people who have finished their earthly course in faith. Comfort those who mourn, strengthen those who struggle, and keep us steadfast in Your Word. Fix our eyes on Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain and our Good Shepherd, until that day when we join the saints in Your everlasting kingdom. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
